Ultherapy
What is Ultherapy?
Ultherapy is the only Health Canada and FDA approved non-surgical face-lift treatment. It lifts and tightens loose skin on areas such as the eyebrows, jawline, jowls and neck. It can increase your collagen to prevent, or boost your collagen to correct. What ever your motivation, Ultherapy is the Gold Standard in non-surgical skin tightening.
How does it work?
It uses high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) energy to heat tissues and muscles under the surface of the skin, stimulating the production of collagen. It lifts your skin using the optimal temperature for collagen production (68 Celsius) at the depth of 3 or 4.5 mm where the connective tissue attaching your skin to the muscle and bones are found (SMAS). It can tighten the skin and reach 68 Celsius at a depth of 1.5 mm. It uses micro focused ultrasound technology that targets these depths without heating or injuring the top layer of your skin (epidermis).
What’s the Difference Between Lifting and Tightening?
Lift is achieved when Fat pads and the superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS) are reorganised with more collagen using Ultherapy at the depth of 3-4.5 mm.
Tightening refers to the epidermis and dermis, the first 1.5 mm of your skin. Depending on the amount of collagen and elastin, your skin will stretch and bounce back like elastic if you are young and healthy.
What should I expect?
Following a single Ultherapy treatment, one can expect a more radiant and youthful appearance. Over the next 6 month, a lift will become apparent and the improvement of skin tone and elasticity will be noticeable. Studies show an increase of 25% collagen and elastin one month post-treatment. Your body will produce new collagen, which will counterbalance the natural process of aging.
How long does Ultherapy take to work?
It takes 3 – 6 months to see the full results, as the collagen gradually builds up to improve the skin’s tone and texture. The ultrasound energy delivered through Ultherapy continues to create new collagen and lifts the skin over the weeks after the treatment.
Will I need Maintenance?
To ensure long-lasting Ultherapy results, we recommend maintenance treatment. Most people can undergo one treatment every 6-12 months. Younger people can maintain with one treatment every 1-2 years.
Is Ultherapy Painful?
Ultherapy treatments are typically well tolerated by patients. Some patients report a mild discomfort or stinging feeling, but others report nothing at all. Anaesthesia of any type is not required for Ultherapy. If needed, over-the-counter pain medications are sufficient to dull any associated pain. A treatment of the face and neck may take 60-120 minutes.
Is Ultherapy safe?
Ultherapy is a non-invasive procedure that utilizes ultrasound technology, which is very safe and has been in use in the medical community for over 50 years.
